Nigeria manager Femi Alabi is confident his team will beat the undefeated Armenia at the Germantown SoccerPlex this coming Saturday to lead group D. Four goals secured a 4-0 win over Liberia on Saturday. Raffie Kehyaian’s team thrashed India 4-0 and Femi conceded: "We know Armenia is a different team to Liberia, they are stronger. "But we will field the right players to beat them."
Nigeria took the lead in the 25th minute with a controversial goal from Mike Anuagu, who for some was clearly offside when the ball was played through by Lato Achike. The assistant referee did not raise his flag as Mike turned the ball into the net, much to the disbelief of Liberia's players, who surrounded the referee in protest. Yet Femi dismissed Liberia manager Lewis's criticism of the match officials, instead claiming that most of his players have not been protected during the tournament. "Lewis must have felt the same as we have felt when Mike gets kicked around and the referee does not act," stated Femi. Nigeria next game is against Armenia this coming Saturday June 4th at the Germantown SoccerPlex. Stay Tuned.
