A player of the Diaspora team of Turkey in red is closed down by players of Philippines.
The team of the Philippines has made its mark at the Diaspora World Cup by humiliating the favorite Turkey 5-1 at the Roy Lester stadium in Rockville, MD. Where are these guys from???? Everyone was mind-blowing by their performance. The Diaspora soccer team of Philippines is from Baltimore. They have strong physical bodies with one and only one strategy: Counter-Attacking. The game reminded me of the quarter-final of the 2010 Fifa World Cup between my favorite team Argentina against Germany where Argentina had nearly 55% of ball possession during the entire game. For me, it was one of those difficult days in the world of soccer because whenever my favorite and best player ever Diego Maradona gets hurt, it affects me as well. I can tell you that Coach Oguz Safoglu of Turkey probably had the same feeling.
The Counter-Attacking strategy of Philippines is very simple. They aim to catch the opponent on the "break". Whenever Turkey gives away possession in midfield or attack, they tend to be further up the field than usual and obviously may not be able to quickly adjust to a defensive mindset. This is where Philippines players of Coach Bryan Bugarin come into play by Counter-attacking. They have one or two strikers near the half-way line so a through ball can be played to catch Turkey off guard.
