Senegal player (yellow jersey) is chased down by Johnny Kukapa of South Africa (blue jersey) at the Heurich StadiumBouncing back from a loss to Liberia last weekend in their group opener, the Germantown FC defeated Senegal 2-0 this past Sunday afternoon at the Heurich Stadium. Although they came away with a positive result, the team identified a number of areas it wishes to work on in the coming weeks.
South Africa had no shortage of offensive opportunities in the first half but failed to find the back of the net. Controlling possession throughout, the Germantown FC out shot Senegal in the opening 45 minutes. They managed to put four shots on goal and hit the post three times in the first period but went into halftime with the game scoreless. For the second half of the remaining 45 minutes, Ludovic Bell's men dominated possession and had a shot superbly blocked by Senegalese defender while their goalkeeper was kept busy as shots peppered his goal. This defeat clearly puts Senegal in a danger zone of its group and the team General Manager Mody must win the next game against Turkey to regain momentum.
